The 40Gbps QSFP+ transceiver is well suited for Infiniband

Both switches are 1RU in height with 32 line rate 40-Gbps Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP+) ports for the Nexus 3132Q and 48 line rate 10 Gbps SFP+ with 6 fixed QSFP+ ports for the Nexus 3172PQ.All of the QSFP+ ports on the device can operate as a native 40-Gbps port or a four independent 10-Gbps ports. The switches also have a serial console port, USB port, PPS connector and an out-of-band 10/100/1000-Mbps Ethernet management ports. From a software perspective, the rich NX-OS operating system fully supports the Cisco Open Network Environment framework with Openflow and the onePK toolkit in addition to standards based Layer 2 and Layer 3 features.Silicon photonics is not a new idea; there have been many attempts at commercial photonics devices back in the 90’s. However, despite some considerable R&D investments, commercial products have been few and far between, and to our knowledge, integration of silicon photonics with advanced IC technology on a die has never been launched commercially. Until now. An integrated IC with active photonics has finally made it into a commercial product with a Luxterra device found in a Molex Active Optical Cable (AOC).In November 2011, Molex purchased Luxtera’s AOC business, including the quad small form factor pluggable (QSFP+) 40 Gbps Ethernet and InfiniBand products.

copper SFP+ Passive DAC that comes in either

This is a copper SFP+ Passive DAC that comes in either an active cable or passive twin-ax cable assembly and connects directly into an SFP+ housing. The active twin-ax cable has active electronic components in the SFP+ housing to improve the signal quality; the passive twin-ax cable is just a straight “wire” and contain no active components.
Our TOptics twinax cables are guaranteed compatible and carry the Simple Technology no quibble money back guarantee and lifetime warranty. From what I know, the biggest thing that has held back adoption of 10GbaseT has been power usage. Also I think other industry organizations had given up waiting for 10GbaseT to materialize. Also cost was somewhat of a factor too, I recall at least with Extreme their 24-port 10GbaseT switch was about $10k more than their SFP+ switch (without any SFP+ adapters or cables), so it was priced similarly to an optical switch that was fairly fully populated with modules, making entry level pricing if you only needed say 10 ports initially quite a bit higher.SFP+ Passive DAC cables are suitable for very short distances and offer a highly cost-effective way to connect within racks and across adjacent racks. SFP+ cables offers a low cost SFP+ solution. SFP+ directly attached twinax cable assemblies supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Fibre Channel, and other industry standards.

choosing the right OM2 Duplex fiber optic

Many manufacturers make LC optic fiber patch cables, but they are not all created equal. Here are the most critical optical performance parameters you should be looking closely. This fiber optic cable manufacturer provide the detail fiber optic cable specifications, you can reference its specs. However, there are at least three kinds of common multimode fibers to select from. 62.5/125um multimode fiber (also called OM1), 50/125um multimode fiber (also known as OM2 Duplex), and 10Gig laser optimized 50/125um multimode fiber (also known as OM3 multimode fiber OR OM4 multimode fiber ).LC fiber patch cables are available in a variety of configurations, such as LC to FC, LC to ST, LC to SC, LC to LC, LC to MTRJ, and many more. LC fibers can be found in simplex fiber cable and duplex fiber cable configurations.Fiber Patch Cable is also called fiber jumper or fiber patch cord. Specifically, it is like joints used to join two kinds of optic cables or to make a third connection out. Fiber patch cable is mainly used in computer work station to outlet and LC to ST, OM2 Duplex fiber optic patch panels or optical?cross connect distribution center. Choosing the right fiber optic patch cable means the compatibility of the patch cables with the original cable. It requires the rate of data transfer, the optic?fiber mode, termination types, etc. must coincident with the original cables, otherwise, there will cause a delay or total information loss in the communication.?Know the different type of fiber?optic patch cables is essential to choosing the right fiber patch cord for use. Next we will pay a priority to introducing the types of fiber patch cables

This requires special also called OM1 Duplex

For many years 62.5/125 μm (OM1 Duplex) and conventional 50/125 μm multi-mode fiber (OM2) were widely deployed in premises applications. These fibers easily support applications ranging from Ethernet (10 Mbit/s) to Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbit/s) and, because of their relatively large core size, were ideal for use with LED transmitters. Newer deployments often use laser-optimized 50/125 μm multi-mode fiber (OM3). Fibers that meet this designation provide sufficient bandwidth to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 300 meters. Optical fiber manufacturers have greatly refined their manufacturing process since that standard was issued and cables can be made that support 10 GbE up to 550 meters. Laser optimized multi-mode fiber (LOMMF) is designed for use with 850 nm VCSELs. Today, this evolution continues with the development of OM4 multimode fiber as the industry prepares itself for speeds of 40 and 100 Gb/s.For these parallel systems, IEEE set an objective of a minimum reach of 100 meters (m), specifically on OM3 fiber (OM1 Duplex and OM2 fibers will not be supported in the 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s standard). Because the 100 m distance is expected to cover only about 85 percent of data center links, the Task force subsequently adopted OM4, capable of reaching 125 m. Although the additional 25 m may seem insignificant, it will support the majority of the remaining access to distribution and  distribution to core links in large data centers.

SFP+ Transceivers modules to 10 Gbps for next-generation Gigabit Ethernet

The XS85-03D is a Class 1 laser product. It fully complies with the multi-sourcing agreement (MSA) which enables it to work in all MSA compliant platforms. The XS85-03D must be operatred within the specified temperature and voltage limits. The optical ports of the module shall be terminated with an optical connector or with a dust plug. This 5-meter copper cable, known as “direct-attach” or twinax, connects from one SFP+ slot to another, without the need for SFP+ Transceivers. It is an economical solution for interconnecting 10 Gigabit Net Optics products, such as connecting an iLink Agg xStream to a Director Stream. It is also great for making short 10 Gigabit connections between Net Optics products and most servers, network switches, and monitoring equipment that have DWDM Transceiver. The Direct-Attach cable is terminated on both ends with mechanical connectors that plug directly into SFP+ slots the same as SFP+ Transceivers modules to. The cable is fully passive; it does not have signal buffers or amplifiers.
